Grants of up to $10,000 to St. Louis, Missouri nonprofits for projects and programs to improve the lives of local residents, with an emphasis on addressing inequity issues in the community. Funding is intended to reduce disparities that undermine the local quality of life, and create access to opportunities and resources that provide a fair chance at success and social mobility.

Funds must be used solely for programs and services that improve the quality of life for St. Louis City residents.
Programs and services promote equity, as they do not discriminate based on race/ethnicity, gender, age, economic disadvantage, disability or sexual orientation and other factors.
Prior responsive grant recipients demonstrate good stewardship of previous funding awarded by submitting all necessary progress and final program and financial reports. Further, those reports document that the organization used the funds as specified and achieved the intended outcomes.
The SLPO typically will not provide grants for the following:
- Academic or health research
- Annual appeals and fundraising events
- Capital Improvements
- Colleges and universities — general operating or research
- Debt reduction
- Equipment not Directly Related to Program Implementation
- Political action groups or campaigns
- General Publications or marketing materials not directly related to program implementation
- Start—up of new organizations (e.g., purchase or lease of building, office furniture)
- Think tanks
The SLPO will host an informational session for prospective grantees on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 10:00 AM via conference call. Prospective applicants should RSVP for the conference call by emailing the SLPO office (see Contact Information below). The conference call number and access code will be provided. The original and two copies of the application as well as one set of the required attachments must be submitted to the St. Louis Philanthropic Organization by 4:30 PM on Friday, February 9, 2018.
Organizations will be notified in late April 2018. Checks will be disbursed upon receipt of Grant Acceptance
Please note that in order to be considered, applicants must submit a Certificate Of Good Standing issued by the Missouri Secretary of State that was issued on or after January 9, 2018 in the name of the applicant, disclosing that the applicant, the corporation and the holder of the 501(c)(3) letter are the same as the applicant.
